Making Croutons or Bread Crumbs is a great way to reuse stale bread. It’s easy – just a little planning.

Bread Cubes

Start with as much bread as you have on hand. Cut into one inch squares. If you want to make bread crumbs – toss the cubes in a couple of bags and toss in the freezer until you need them. Then take out as much as you need for your recipe, grind ’em up in a food processor with some spices of your choice and there you have it! They are easy, healthy and inexpensive.

To make the Croutons – after you’ve cut them into pieces toss in a bowl with a little oil to coat and spices of your choice. Lay out on a baking pan and pop in a low oven to dry. It can take some time – make sure to check on them so they don’t burn. Yum!
